Belleville Police responded to around 120 calls for service in the last 24-hours.
Bail Violations
On August 15, 2026, a 46-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested and charged in connection with a mischief investigation after a window at a downtown Belleville business was damaged. The accused was subsequently released on an Undertaking with conditions that included not attending within 100 metres of the business.
On August 19, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Belleville Police Service Community Response Unit received information that the same individual had returned to the business, contrary to his release conditions. Officers attended and conducted an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, the male was arrested and charged with:
· Fail to Comply with an Undertaking
· Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Youth Charged Following Harassment and Threats Investigation
On the evening of August 18, 2026, Belleville Police received a report from a youth who stated they were hiding in a residential backyard in the city’s east end after being chased and threatened by another youth. Officers responded and located the complainant, who was not physically injured but expressed concerns for their safety.
As a result of the investigation, police determined there had been an ongoing pattern of harassment and threatening behaviour. The investigation led to the arrest of a 15-year-old female from Belleville. Pursuant to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
The accused was charged with:
· Criminal Harassment (two counts)
· Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm (two counts)
