Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges following a complaint from a member of the public.
On August 16, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., police received a traffic complaint regarding a passenger vehicle that was unable to maintain its lane while travelling eastbound on Highway 401 in Bowmanville.
Officers located and stopped a vehicle matching the description provided on Division Street in Cobourg. After speaking with the driver, police initiated an impaired driving investigation which resulted in the individual being taken into custody.
As a result, Jillian BRIDGES (44) of Cobourg, has been charged with:
– Failure or refusal to comply with demand
– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
– Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment were also imposed.
