Several items of contraband were seized in searches at a Kingston-area prison facility.
Between September 13 and September 16, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, multiple packages containing contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Collins Bay Institution, a multi-level security federal institution.
The items seized included tobacco, marijuana, “shatter” (cannabis concentrate), hashish, crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and edged weapons, as well as cell phones and accessories. The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $258,225.
The Correctional Service of Canada uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions.
These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
