UPDATE AT 9:30 PM – Belleville Police have released more details about an incident which sent an officer and another person to the hospital in east end Belleville on Sunday night.
The investigation is continuing after the original incident involving a Belleville Police officer and one other person at Victoria and Bleeker Avenue around 7:10 pm.
Multiple people on social media reporting hearing multiple gunshots in that area at that time followed by a large police presence.
Both were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The SIU has been notified. Police say there is no danger to the general public.
RELEASE – On September 20, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., a Belleville Police Service officer encountered an individual in the area of Bleecker Avenue and Victoria Avenue.
The officer and the individual sustained injuries and were transported to hospital.
The Belleville Police Service has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the incident. Belleville Police Service is unable to provide any further information at this time.
We ask members of the public to avoid the area and follow any directions provided by emergency personnel.
There is no risk to public safety.
ORIGINAL STORY – More information is expected soon about the sound of shots fired in Belleville’s east end.
Unconfirmed reports started circulating on social media about the sounds of shots being fired along Victoria Avenue in East end Belleville shortly before 8 pm.
People also reported seeing a large police presence which may have included drones searching the area.
We have been in touch with Belleville Police and they have told us a statement will be released shortly.
No details have been confirmed about the exact location, any possible injuries or a suspect or charges.
