Beyond the Headlines – the dominance of Shohei Ohtani

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 28, 2025 | 9:33 AM

As the old saying goes, if you want to be the best you have to beat the best, and the Toronto Blue Jays have the chance to do that tonight.

Shohei Ohtani put on another performance for the ages in game three with two home runs and two doubles in a 6-5 extra innings win.

The Jays will hand the ball to Shane Bieber tonight as they get the first taste of Ohtani on the mound instead of just at the plate (which has been bad enough).

To say that he has been helping to make his case as the greatest baseball player ever is an understatement.

He now has four home runs in just three games in THIS series. He walked five times last night, four intentionally, meaning he reached base (in a way) all nine times. He was personally responsible for more than half of L.A.’s offence in the first nine innings of play.

He adds records almost every game he plays. He is now the first player ever with three multi-homer games in a single postseason. He became the first player in playoff history to go 4-for-4 with two homers and two doubles.  His four extra-base hits in a game tied the World Series record.

The last time he pitched (against the Brewers), he went six scoreless with 10 strikeouts and three home runs, in one game.

The Jays have every chance to win tonight and come back and win the series. They are patient hitters, play excellent defence and fight till the bitter end.

Like I said, to be the best you have to beat the best. They will stare him down on the mound tonight.
