Decorative lighting and electrical upgrades on the bridge, estimated to cost around $775,000, will not be included in the work, as staff noted vandals have struck the lighting on both the Bridge Street bridge and the Catharine Street footbridge.
The City of Belleville is set to put more money into fixing the downtown Upper Bridge.
At its meeting earlier this week, Council agreed to put an additional $425,000 toward the rehabilitation of the deteriorating bridge linking Front Street to Moira Street West.
