The Central Lakes Association of Realtors has released its April 2026 housing market statistics, highlighting month-over-month increases in both the number of sales and average prices across all Regions, alongside steady inventory levels as the spring market progresses.
“The Bank of Canada’s decision to hold the overnight lending rate at 2.25% provides a level of stability that is helpful for both buyers and sellers navigating today’s market,” said CLAR President Christine Riley. “As we move further into the spring market, we’re seeing increased activity across our Region, with more sales and steady listing levels creating a more dynamic environment.
While affordability challenges remain, this momentum is helping to bring more balance to the market and giving buyers and sellers greater confidence in their decisions.”
Hastings County saw 198 sales in April, up 66.4-per cent from 119 in March. The average selling price increased two-per cent, from $538,254 in March to $548,797 in April. New listings rose 33.8-per cent, while homes spent an average of 46 days on the market.
Northumberland County recorded 103 sales in April, slightly up from 102 in March. The average price increased 6.5-per cent, from $670,503 to $714,267.
New listings saw a slight decline of 1.2-per cent to 324, with homes spending an average of 56 days on the market.
Prince Edward County recorded 33 sales in April, up 106.3-per cent from 16 in March. The average home price increased significantly by 18.3-per cent, from $544,250 to $644,129. New listings rose 26.7-per cent, with homes spending an average of 55 days on the market.
