A Northumberland County community partnership is helping support a worthy program that assists individuals and families going through mental health crises.
The Northumberland OPP has recognized a generous donation from United Way Northumberland, which has provided $800 in grocery store gift cards to support the Mental Health Engagement And Response Team (MHEART) program.
The gift cards will be distributed by MHEART members to individuals and families experiencing hardship whom they encounter while responding to mental health and community wellness-related calls throughout Northumberland County.
MHEART is a collaborative initiative that brings together police and healthcare professionals to provide support, resources, and connections to community services for individuals facing mental health challenges and other vulnerable circumstances.
“Partnerships like this make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve,” stated Inspector Mike Cavanagh, Detachment Commander of the Northumberland OPP. “The generosity shown by United Way Northumberland provides our MHEART program with another way to assist individuals facing difficult circumstances while helping connect them with the longer-term supports they may need.”
The Northumberland OPP extends its appreciation to United Way Northumberland for its ongoing support of community well-being initiatives and for helping ensure assistance reaches those who need it most.
