Lennox and Addington County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people with impaired driving and dangerous driving following two single vehicle collisions over the weekend.
On Saturday October 3, just after 11:00 p.m., L&A County OPP members were patrolling westbound on the 401 when a vehicle approached the cruiser from behind at a high rate of speed before crashing into the center median beside the cruiser and entering the North ditch. The vehicle driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The lone passenger was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation,
Mohamed AIT-ADDI, a 33-year-old from Terrebonne, Quebec, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to comply with release order
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on October 4, 2026. Their driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded.
On Sunday October 4, just before 10:00 p.m, L&A County OPP was called regarding a single vehicle collision at the roundabout on Potter Drive in Loyalist Township. Officers attended the scene and following an investigation, the driver was arrested.
Kevin HARPELL, a 33-year-old from Kingston, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
- Dangerous operation
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on November 17, 2026. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded.
