The City of Quinte West is extending opening time for its cooling centre.

The city says in response to continued forecasted heat, the cooling centre at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens will remain open daily until Sunday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City of Quinte West activates a cooling centre at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Arena in Trenton when there are two consecutive days of temperatures of 31 degrees or higher or humidex values of 35 degrees Celsius or higher.

Splash pads are also open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in both Trenton and Frankford.
