Importance of recreation highlighted in new Belleville campaign

By Brock Ormond Dec 2, 2025 | 12:11 PM

The City of Belleville is excited to announce the launch of an active community connection campaign designed to highlight the essential role of parks and recreation in building healthy, connected and resilient communities.

This initiative aligns with insights from Parks and Recreation Ontario’s “Beyond the Boundaries” series, which underscores the untold value of parks and recreation infrastructure across Ontario.

The “Beyond the Boundaries” reports demonstrate how recreation facilities, programs and outdoor spaces are more than leisure amenities; they are vital infrastructure that supports health, social equity, emergency preparedness and economic vitality.

Key Highlights of Belleville’s Campaign

· Health & Wellness Messaging: Promoting recreation as a solution to physical inactivity and mental health challenges.

· Equity & Inclusion: Showcasing accessible programs and initiatives that foster belonging to all residents.

· Community Resilience: Emphasizing the role of recreation facilities as emergency hubs and spaces for civic engagement.

· Engaging Content: A year-long calendar of social media campaigns, newsletters and community events designed to inspire participation and awareness.
