Another drug seizure has been made at Collins Bay Institution.
Correctional Service of Canada officials say between October 24 and 30 as a result of the vigilance of staff members, packages containing contraband and unauthorized items were seized at the multi-level security federal institution near Kingston.
The items seized included tobacco, marijuana, “shatter” (cannabis concentrate), hashish, crystal methamphetamine, MDMA, edged weapons, a hacksaw blade, and drug paraphernalia, as well as cell phones and accessories at an estimated institutional value of $615,708.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions.
These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
CSC has heightened measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
