Tracey named new QW Director of Public Works

The City of Quinte West has its new Director of Public Works and Environmental Services.

City officials announced the appointment of Matt Tracey to the position on Monday.

Matt Tracey has worked for the City of Quinte West since July 2009 when he was hired as Manager of Water and Wastewater Services.

Before joining the city, Tracey spent four years as Director of Water and Wastewater Services with Prince Edward County and 11 years with Ontario Clean Water Agency.

City officials say he holds an Environmental Diploma from Loyalist College and is a past President and served on the board of the Eastern Ontario Water Works Association for many years.

The Director of Public Works and Environmental Services oversees roads and park operations and waste management services, as well as the city’s engineering and water and wastewater divisions.

Tracey takes over the role from Chris Angelo, who is now the municipality’s CAO.

“I have had the privilege of working with Matt for the past 16 years, and I have full confidence in his ability to excel in this new position,” stated Angelo in a media release.

“Matt will continue to provide the strong leadership and dependable service our community expects from the Public Works Department.”

“We are pleased to welcome Matt as Quinte West’s Director of Public Works and Environmental Services,” added Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “In this role, Matt will work closely with staff and the community to support the City’s long-term strategic goals.”

Tracey says he is looking forward to the new challenge of helping provide the best service to Quinte West reisdents.

Tracey will assume the Director position on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025.
