Sanitary sewer flushing and maintenance continues in Picton Nov 17-21

By Hailey MacDonald Nov 16, 2025 | 5:11 AM

The County of Prince Edward’s sanitary sewer flushing and maintenance program continues in the Picton Wastewater Collection System this week.

Flushing will take place between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday in all streets west of Talbot St and north of Picton Main St, up to and including County Rd 49.

Sanitary sewer mains will be flushed using high pressure water and service will be conducted on pumping stations throughout wastewater collection systems.

Flushing is conducted to maintain proper operation, prevent blockages, and remove debris that can collect in the collection system. Flushing will not be conducted on private sanitary laterals.

While sanitary sewer flushing is taking place, customers in the immediate area are asked to keep toilet seats closed on the first and basement levels of dwellings. Splashing may occur intermittently as sewer mains are flushed.

Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area of flushing and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of work. Traffic control will be in place where required.
