Northumberland OPP is seeking information after an ambulance was stolen in Colborne last night.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from William Street.
Emergency Medical Services were attending a residence and, upon returning to the ambulance, discovered that it had been taken.
The vehicle was recovered a short time later at another location in town and was found unoccupied.
The OPP Canine Unit assisted officers in the investigation; however, the suspect(s) were not located.
Officers are following lines of inquiry, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police reminded the public that emergency vehicles are critical public assets, and their misuse directly affects the ability of paramedics to respond to life-threatening situations.
Incidents like this not only disrupt emergency services but also jeopardize patient care and public safety across the wider community.
