Prince Edward County Council passed motion to add question regarding Council size in 2026 election

Prince Edward County Council has passed a motion to add a question regarding Council size on the ballot for the 2026 municipal election.

The motion was moved by Councillor Braney.

The question will read as ‘Are you in favour of a third-party review of Council size and related ward boundary changes?’

A full communications strategy will be prepared to identify the various methods by which the information will be distributed to the public, which would include things such as public service announcements, website information, social media, brochures for distribution in public libraries, hand-outs for candidates, etc.

Council may still alter the wording of the question or add more than one question, keeping in mind that legal review would still be required and that the criteria of the Municipal Elections Act would still apply.
