Person from Hastings Highlands charged after traffic stop

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 2, 2025 | 9:44 AM

A large amount of drugs and other items were seized and a person from Hastings Highlands was arrested in a routine traffic stop north of our listening area last week.

Just after 9 p.m. on Friday, Bancroft OPP officers on patrol on Highway 62 in Hastings Highlands stopped a vehicle for a driving offence.

The officers reportedly noticed drugs in the vehicle and one person was arrested.

A vehicle search resulted in the seizure of over 80 grams of cocaine, nearly $1000 in cash, scales, and cell phones.

39-year-old Jody Watson is charged with possession of cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused is expected in Belleville Court on Tuesday.
