A Belleville daycare is on the move again.
At its final meeting of the current term, Hastings County Council approves the location change for Little Rascals Child Care Inc.’s relocation to 610 Dundas Street East as required through their previously approved Infrastructure and Start-Up funding allocations.
The signed lease, which is set to take effect Friday, October 30, was contingent on Hastings County Council approval of the location change for the Ministry of Education’s Start-Up Funding.
County CAO Connor Dorey told council that funding had been provided last year to Little Rascals to support the relocation of their programming to support the
Representatives of the centre were about to secure a lease at 250 Sidney Street when they were advised by the landlord and realtor that the property’s zoning does not permit child care operations.
They were told that the location would require a Record of Site Condition and a Zoning By-Law Amendment to satisfy the Ontario Building Code and Belleville planning policies, which would be a lengthy and costly process.
Following approval, renovation work is expected to begin November 1 to outfit the facility for the centre’s operations.
Officials say securing new space is critical to maintaining the 115 licensed childcare spaces currently offered by Little Rascals.
