Bridge Street West gas main relocation project in Belleville to last one month

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 9, 2025 | 1:09 PM

The City of Belleville has contracted Enbridge to relocate an existing gas main that currently runs through the middle of the property at 355 Bridge St. West, to the northern and western boundaries of the property (south of Bridge Street West) to allow for the future construction of the new YMCA Centre for Life at the site.

The gas main relocation project is estimated to take a month and is expected to be completed by Oct. 10. The construction of the new YMCA is expected to start following the completion of the gas main relocation.

Future work in this area will be limited to the installation of new twin sanitary forcemains, as part of the ongoing Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station project. At this time, Bridge Street West will not be widened at this location. It will be widened at the Sidney Street intersection as part of the Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station project in the future. Further updates on this project can be on theĀ Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station project page.
