Belleville Police has arrested a Brighton man who was not supposed to be driving Thursday night.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the city’s northeast end and learned the male behind the wheel was a prohibited driver.

He was also determined to have been bound by a release order to not have care or control of a motor vehicle.

A 33-year-old Brighton man was arrested and charged with breaching probation and release orders and operating a vehicle while prohibited.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Two people have been charged in connection with an incident involving stolen license plates.

Belleville Police stated the service’s Automatic License Plate Reader played a role in locating a vehicle that reportedly had stolen plates in the city’s east end in the early hours of Friday morning.

Following a traffic stop, 43-year-old Travis Todhunter and 35-year-old Alisha Maille, both of Belleville, face possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failure to comply with probation charges.

Maille was given an additional charge of driving while under suspension.

Both were released with November court dates.
