The City of Belleville is seeking feedback from operators, businesses and community members on the effectiveness of the Short-Term Accommodation by-law.
Members of the public are invited to provide their input by taking the STA By-law Review Survey before Oct. 1.
The STA by-law refers to a dwelling or dwelling unit, or any portion of it, that is rented for a period of less than 30 days, but does not include a motel, hotel, hospital, tourist inn or accommodations where there is no payment exchanged.
Currently, STAs may have no more than three rooms individually rented and sleeping accommodations for a maximum of four individuals (unless it is an entire single detached dwelling rented under a single booking).
There also must be a minimum distance of 100 metres between STAs in the City, with the exception of the downtown area as outlined in the by-law.
STA operators are required to complete an application with supporting documents to obtain a license each year.
