Tree-planting event on Friday at Cascade Park in Belleville

A special event is being held on Friday in Belleville as one part of the city is transformed into a new and more vibrant green space.

On Friday, there will be a community planting event at Cascade Park made possible through partnership with Quinte Conservation, the Quinte Field Naturalists, Tree Canada, the City of Belleville, and the LCBO’s Spirit of Sustainability Initiative. Representatives from the organizations listed above and from different levels of government will be in attendance.

WHERE: Cascade Park at 33 Tracey Park Drive in Belleville ON

WHEN: September 19, 2025, starting at 10:00 am.

Volunteers and students from Park Dale Public school will be on hand to transform this urban green space in a Belleville neighborhood where access to nature and shade has been limited. A thoughtfully selected variety of native trees, fruit- and berry-producing shrubs, and wetland plants will help nurture the park’s biodiversity, create opportunities for environmental learning, and strengthen community connections through shared care for this natural space.

Quinte Conservation is a community-based environmental protection agency. It serves 18 municipalities in the watersheds of the Moira, Napanee and Salmon Rivers and Prince Edward County. It provides cost-effective environmental expertise and leadership. Quinte Conservation’s main goal is to create a sustainable ecosystem where people and nature live in harmony.

They are still looking for some volunteers for this event. More information about Quinte Conservation is available at www.quinteconservation.ca.
