Belleville man charged in connection with attack on a child

Belleville Police have laid several charges after a child was attacked by an adult over the weekend.

On May 24th (Sunday) at approximately 5:00 p.m., Belleville Police responded to the city’s east end for a report of an assault.

Upon investigation, officers learned that a male reportedly assaulted a 12-year-old female who was known to him by grabbing her shoulder, choking her, and uttering threats. As a result of police investigation, a 39-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

· Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

· Assault

· Assault causing bodily harm – choke

He was held for a bail hearing.
