UPDATE: County Road 5 north of Picton reopened after pole fire

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 15, 2025 | 4:02 PM

A hydro pole fire closed a road north of Picton for several hours on Monday.

OPP posted around 2 pm that County Road 5 would be closed for several hours between Fry Road and Davis Road due to a hydro pole fire.

The pole fire caused a power outage in a widespread area around the fire site, though the pole itself didn’t actually completely fall across the roadway.

OPP East Region announced on Monday night just after 7:30 p.m. that the road was reopened.
