Belleville residents will have a new way to access property tax and utility bills.
The city announced Tuesday a new e-billing system gives people the option to receive and view their bills online through a secure paperless billing system.
With paperless billing, residents can receive email notifications when new bills are available, view current and past bills online, see a detailed breakdown of invoice charges, access account information at any time, download and save copies of their bills, view payment history and reduce paper waste.
“This is a new option for tax bills and an updated version of e-billing for utility bills,” said Brandon Ferguson, Director of Finance and Treasurer.
“The new e-billing is a convenient, secure and environmentally friendly way for residents to manage their accounts.”
If residents currently receive utility bills through the previous e-billing system, they will need to log in to their my.belleville.ca account and update their preferences to continue receiving electronic documents.
If they do not update their preferences, they will begin receiving paper bills instead.
In time, the system will also have the added feature of paying for tax and utility bills online through the same platform, increasing ease of use for residents.
