The Belleville Police Service would like to advise residents that Community Policing Volunteers will be participating in the annual Halloween Safe Streets program this Saturday evening. The program sees volunteers donate their time on Halloween night to help promote safety for trick-or-treaters and provide a visible presence in neighbourhoods throughout the city.
Volunteers will be patrolling areas across Belleville on foot and in vehicles. Members of the public can easily identify them by their high-visibility safety vests and official identification.
The Halloween Safe Streets program is intended to help create a safe and enjoyable environment for children and families and serve as extra eyes and ears within the community during one of the city’s busiest evenings.
Residents who see volunteers on patrol are encouraged to say hello and help make them feel welcome in their neighbourhoods.
As always, suspicious activity or emergencies should be reported directly to police. Volunteers are not enforcement personnel and are not responsible for responding to incidents.
The Belleville Police Service thanks all volunteers for generously donating their time to support a safe Halloween and a safer community.
