David Piccini, MPP for Northumberland–Peterborough South, joined
Cramahe Township officials on Friday to announce a $154,600 Capital grant from the
Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to support Phase One of the Elgin Street Sport Park
rehabilitation project.
The investment will help revitalize key recreational facilities, creating improved spaces
for residents of all ages and abilities to stay active, connect with their community and
enjoy local recreation.
“Our government is proud to invest in the infrastructure that keeps our communities
strong,” said David Piccini, MPP for Northumberland–Peterborough South. “By
supporting the rehabilitation of recreational facilities like Elgin Street Sport Park, we’re
helping ensure families and residents of all ages can stay active and connected in their
own communities.”
As part of this project, improvements include resurfacing the tennis and basketball
courts, repairing and painting the ball hockey rink, replacing basketball nets and
hardware, upgrading fencing where needed, and installing new lighting.
The project was developed by Cramahe Township staff and the volunteer Parks and
Recreation Committee, with the support of Township Council. A second phase,
estimated at $100,000, is planned for the future.
“This investment by the Ontario Government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is
great news for the people of Cramahe Township,” said Matthew Dunleavy, Chair of the
Parks and Recreation Committee.
“Our community will greatly benefit from this OTF grant,” said Mandy Martin, Mayor of
Cramahe Township. “It ensures these vital recreational spaces will remain accessible
for all through sport, play and community events.”
