Help young students in the local public-school board get fueled with food this fall.
This Halloween, the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation in partnership with local HPE District School Board secondary schools, is turning local spirit into life-changing support with the launch of the annual “Halloween for Hunger” Drive.
From Monday, October 26th to Friday, October 30th, local student leaders, volunteers, and community members are coming together to collect non-perishable food items and essential supplies.
Every single donation will go directly to stocking the Sharing Cupboard in the donor’s local secondary school.
The Sharing Cupboard is a vital lifeline operating in all seven HPEDSB
Bayside Secondary School
Centennial Secondary School
Central Hastings School
Eastside Secondary School
North Hastings High School
Prince Edward Collegiate Institute
Trenton High School
Driven by compassion, the Sharing Cupboard provides a completely “no-questions-asked” supply of fresh food, nutritious snacks, personal hygiene items, and household necessities. It gives youth the freedom to take home what they need with dignity, confidentiality, and relief—ensuring that poverty never stands in the way Of a student’s potential.
Needed Items:
Proteins & Staples: Peanut butter (or seed butter), tuna, canned meat, beans, rice, pasta, and pasta sauce
Nourishing Meals & Breakfast: Canned soup, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, granola bars, crackers,
shelf-stable milk
Essentials & Care: Laundry soap, household cleaners, and personal hygiene products
“A filled cupboard is more than justfood on a shelf—it’s peace of mind, self-respect, and the fuel our youth need to thrive, ” says Cherie Hardie, procurement Coordinator, HPE Learning Foundation.
“Because the program relies entirely on public support, our community’s generosity during Halloween for Hunger directly determines how many students we can help throughout the school year. ”
Community members can make a direct impact by dropping off items at their local secondary school or by making a financial contribution online at this link and this link.
