The City of Belleville is prepping for annual Remembrance Day events ahead of November 11.
Mayor Neil Ellis and Legion President Mike Bensen will be at City Hall Council Chambers on Friday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. for a Poppy Campaign Kick Off event.
Bensen will be presenting Mayor Ellis with the first poppy to officially launch the 2026 Poppy Campaign in Belleville.
City workers were also on the grind freshly repainting the Lest We Forget crosswalk this week ahead of the Remembrance Season.
Located at the intersection of Cannifton Road and Bell Boulevard, the crosswalk leads to the Veterans Monument and Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Poppies and landmarks such as the crosswalk remind everyone of the sacrifices made by those who have fought for our freedoms.
There will be the customary ceremonies on Wednesday, November 11 in Belleville and across the Quinte region.
