Lennox and Addington County Detachment members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person with dangerous driving and multiple other offences following an investigation in Greater Napanee on Tuesday
Shortly after 9:00 a.m., L&A County OPP was contacted after a male party was located in a residence on Sunset Crescent in Greater Napanee, that he had previously been evicted from. The male then exited the residence before stealing a vehicle and fleeing the location. OPP officers located the vehicle and were in the vicinity when it crashed into a tree on Deseronto Road North of the 401 Highway and the driver fled on foot. With assistance from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit, as well as Guardian One (OPP helicopter), OPP located the driver of the vehicle nearby. As a result of the investigation,
Daniel GRIFFIN, a 52-year-old from Napanee was charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from police
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Break and enter – commit indictable offence
- Break and enter – intent to commit indictable offence
- Forcible confinement
- Fail to comply with probation order – two counts
- Drive while suspended
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on October 7, 2026.
