Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against two individuals following a drug trafficking investigation in the Municipality of Brighton.
On October 6, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers on patrol in the area of Telephone Road and County Road 30 observed a parked vehicle and subsequently spoke with the occupants. As a result of that interaction, police initiated a drug investigation.
The driver and passenger were arrested, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 70 grams of suspected cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and an edged weapon.
Ivan COOPER (42) of Cobourg and Andrew SCOTT (38) of Cobourg have each been charged with:
– Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
– Unauthorized possession of a weapon
Both accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2027.
