Weekly Quinte Red Devils wrap up:

Only two of our eight Quinte teams were in action this past weekend, with both the U13 and U14 Red Devils competing at the Toronto Red Wings tournaments.

QUINTE U13 RED DEVILS

The U13 Red Devils opened their tournament season at the Toronto Red Wings Tournament and showed plenty of resilience along the way.

After dropping their opener 5-1, the team bounced back in a big way with three straight wins — 4-1, 6-1 and 8-1 — to earn a spot in Sunday’s quarter-finals. Their tournament run came to an end with a hard-fought 2-0 loss to Huron Perth, the top-ranked team in the province.

It was a great first tournament experience for the group, with the team getting stronger as the weekend progressed and having plenty of fun along the way. Lots of positives to build on as they get ready for the regular season!

417 BUS LINE U14 RED DEVILS

The U14 Red Devils were also in Toronto for the Red Wings Early Bird Tournament, finishing round-robin play with a 1-3 record.

The team opened with a close 4-3 loss to the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks. Max Norton, Kash Nelson and Noah Gilchrist scored for Quinte, with Mac Brown adding an assist and Ryan Keyes in net.

In Game 2, Jensen Campbell scored from Norton in a 3-1 loss to the Huron Perth Lakers, with Blake Laurin getting the start in goal.

Game 3 saw Quinte fall 6-2 to the Toronto Marlboros. Cale Christie scored both Red Devils goals, with assists going to Liam Lollar, Norton and Jaxon Elrick. Keyes was back between the pipes.

The Red Devils finished the tournament on a high note with an impressive 7-1 win over the Markham Majors. Christie, Norton, Will Beebe, Gilchrist, Dawson Szubzda-Hill, Lollar and Kade Whelan all found the back of the net. Nelson, Norton, Christie and Szubzda-Hill each recorded two assists, while Lollar and Gilchrist added one apiece. Laurin earned the win in goal.

ON DECK

Regular season action gets underway this coming weekend for a number of our Quinte teams.

Tournament play also continues as teams prepare for the season ahead, with the full Quinte Red Devils schedule getting into swing in early October.
