On September 6, 2026, Port Hope Police Service responded to a three-vehicle collision in a drive-thru in Port Hope.
Police learned that at the time of the collision, one individual was riding on the roof of the vehicle, and another was positioned on the hood while participating in a social media challenge.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with Careless Driving.
Port Hope Police Service reminds the public that dangerous social media challenges involving motor vehicles can result in serious injury or death. Riding on the hood, roof or exterior of a moving vehicle puts everyone involved, as well as other motorists and pedestrians, at risk.
