The launch of a new interactive GIS application aims to assist Belleville developers, investors and property owners in making informed development decisions with greater confidence and ease.
Developed in-house by GIS Supervisor Jason Bonisteel in partnership with the Planning and Building departments, city officials say DevReady is a key component of Belleville’s broader Investors Toolkit and provides users with quick access to zoning information, permitted land uses, development charge estimates, building permit fee estimates and more.
The tool is designed to streamline the early stages of the development process by providing clear, reliable information before formal applications are submitted.
“DevReady is another example of how the City is working to make development information more accessible and transparent,” said Thomas Deming, Manager of Planning for the City of Belleville. “By putting important planning and development information at users’ fingertips, we are helping investors, developers and property owners better understand opportunities, requirements and costs early in the process. This supports informed decision-making and helps create a more efficient development experience in Belleville.”
Users can search properties by municipal address or assessment roll number to instantly access zoning and Official Plan information, including applicable schedules and overlay zones. The application also provides a detailed zoning analysis that compares property dimensions against zoning requirements to identify what uses may be supported on a site and highlights any constraints that may need to be addressed.
Additional features include a vacant land search tool, development charge and permit fee calculators, and a step-by-step guide outlining the rezoning process for projects that require planning approvals.
The launch of DevReady reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to supporting economic growth by providing modern, user-friendly tools that make it easier to explore development opportunities in Belleville.
DevReady is the first component of the City’s Investors Toolkit to be launched, with additional tools and resources expected to be introduced in the coming months. The City is making the application available now so developers, investors and property owners can begin benefiting from the tool immediately.
