UPDATE: Belleville Fire officials have confirmed there is no fire in the Sidney Street area.
Deputy Fire Chief Mark Shannon told InQuinte.ca an automatic fire alarm went off at an apartment building in that area.
He noted it was a false alarm caused by construction in the area.

There is heavy presence of fire personnel in Belleville in Monday’s noon hour.
A report to Inquinte.ca stated at least four fire trucks are on the scene at an apartment building on Sidney Street beside Giant Tiger.
Few details are known right now, but drivers and pedestrians should try to avoid the area for the time being.
