Belleville Police have charged a city man with theft following an incident at a business in the city earlier this month.
On May 12th, Belleville Police responded to a business on Dundas Street East regarding a reported theft. It was reported that a male entered the store and left with a cart full of items without making any attempt to pay.
Through investigation, officers identified a suspect. On May 26th at 6:26 p.m., Belleville Police located and arrested the individual. As a result, Wayne Shanks, 65-year-old Belleville man was charged with:
· Failure to comply with a release order
· Theft under $5000
He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in August.
