Belleville Police arrested a man on outstanding warrants after a bicycle went right into the Moira River.

On May 22nd at 9:45 a.m., Belleville Police received information that a male who was known to have multiple outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrants was walking in the city’s west end.

Officers attended the area and located the male, who fled upon seeing police. He was observed riding a bicycle into the river in a reported attempt to escape but was taken into custody shortly after.

As a result, Evan Novak, 34-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants. He was held for a bail hearing.
