Beyond the Headlines – 2 Air Movements Squadron

By Paul Martin Apr 2, 2026 | 9:35 AM

A celebration 75 years in the making happened yesterday at CFB Trenton.

April 1st marked the 75th anniversary of 2 Air Movements Squadron, the backbone of airlift capacity and transport efficiency in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

It was established in 1951 to provide trained and experienced personnel to support Wing flying operations and airlift activity on deployed operations, within Canada and all around the world.

When you add them all up, the numbers are staggering.

While supporting various missions, the hard-working women and men of 2 Air Movements Squadron transport an average of 36 million pounds of freight and 42,000 passengers each year.

On May 8th and 9th, 2026, they will hold a larger celebration, as 2 Air Mov Sqn will mark the occasion by hosting several events for former and currently serving members, including a Golf Tournament at Trillium Wood, a tour of 2 Air Mov Sqn, and a Mess/Gala dinner at the National Air Force Museum of Canada. It’s a victory lap that’s well deserved.

No military operation can succeed without proper supply lines, efficient movement of personnel and equipment and the knowledge that everything they need can be accessed quickly and reliably.

For 75 years, the Squadron’s official motto “Nunquam non Paratus” (Never Unprepared) has been the clarion call for the people who made sure that those who defend our freedom and our lives get what they need on site and on time every time.

I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
