A months-long investigation into a fraud case earlier this year has resulted in an arrest on a warrant for a Belleville woman on the long weekend.
Belleville Police opened a case into fraud back on January 14, where it was reported that an individual had purchased items from a business and later sought a refund and provided personal banking information for processing.
The employee then reportedly attempted to transfer funds from the customer’s account into her own.
As a result of investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant for the employee for fraud over $5,000, obtaining by false pretense and use of credit card.
Police eventually located and arrested Claudia Okal, a 26-year-old Belleville woman, on the strength of the arrest warrant on Saturday.
She was held for a bail hearing.
