Oil leak in Prince Edward County

By Brock Ormond May 19, 2026 | 7:04 PM

An oil leak reportedly caused by malfunctioning construction equipment impacted traffic in pockets of Prince Edward County on Tuesday.

County officials encouraged motorists to drive with caution on several County roads that have been impacted, including County Rds. 34, 4, 5 and 6.

Operations staff spread sand on sections of those roads and officials say they may be slippery for several hours.

The source of the leak was found to be malfunctioning construction equipment from a private firm.

Impacts were limited to the road surface and were contained. No impacts to the natural environment are anticipated.
