By Paul Martin Feb 17, 2026 | 5:07 AM

An inmate died over the Family Day weekend at a prison in the Kingston area.

On February 14, 2026, Thomas Reid, an inmate from Bath Institution, died while in custody.

At the time of death, the inmate was 70 years old and had been serving a 4 year, 4 month, 11 day sentence since November 25, 2024.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified. The cause of death was not released.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances.

CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
