Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals following a suspected impaired driving investigation that began with a concerned citizen report.
On November 4, 2026 (Wednesday), members of the Prince Edward County OPP received information regarding a vehicle travelling on the Glenora Ferry. A concerned citizen reported observing two occupants stumbling on the ferry and expressed concern that the driver might be impaired. A suspect vehicle was located shortly after the report was received and was subsequently stopped by police.
Officers conducted an impaired driving investigation and made a roadside Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. The male driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported for further breath testing.
During the investigation, officers reportedly determined that the occupants had switched drivers. The female occupant was also subsequently arrested.
As a result:
- Pharong SARUN, age 32 of Prince Edward County, was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Jessica RILEY, age 33 of Prince Edward County, was charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Demand.
The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The OPP would like to thank the member of the public who reported their concerns. Road safety is a shared responsibility, and timely reporting of suspected impaired drivers helps keep Ontario roads safe.
