A figure skating pair featuring a Quinte resident glided its way to gold in Germany this past weekend.
Quinte West skater Trennt Michaud and partner Lia Pereira reached the top of the podium at the Nebelhorn Trophy Senior Figure Skating competition in Oberstdorf.
They racked up 194.48 points to claim first place, nearly 20 points ahead of the second-place finishers from the United States.
This was done on the strength of first place finshes in the short program and free skate.
The gold medal follows a bronze at the World Championships in Czechia and a personal best mark at the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy.
