UPDATE 3 P.M. TUESDAY- Damage is being estimated at approximately $297,000 in a house fire Monday night in the east end of Belleville.
The Belleville Fire and Emergency Services – Fire Prevention Division investigated a structure fire that occurred in a single storey, detached, residential building located on Summit Crescent.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished a fire on the exterior of the home which spread into the roof structure. Damage to a neighbouring property was limited to melting of
exterior siding.
The home was occupied at the time of the fire, and all occupants were able to exit the structure. There were no injuries.
Belleville Fire officials are reminding the community to call 911 if you witness an emergency.
Early notification to the fire department can help in limiting fire damage and keeping the community safe.
The public are also reminded not to store large amounts of combustible material in or around structures, as that can create a fire hazard.

There were no injuries but two homes suffered damage in a house fire late Monday afternoon in Belleville.
Belleville firefighters responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Summit Crescent (on the city’s east side) at 4:39 pm.
A quick knockdown by firefighters limited damage to the exterior wall and attic area of the initial residence with some siding also melted on the house next to the structure fire.
Hastings Quinte Paramedics attended to check over the occupants of the residence including an infant who escaped on their own. There were no injuries.
A fire investigator was on scene as the investigation continues to determine a cause.
