The City of Belleville and the Downtown Belleville Business Improvement Area (BIA) are excited to announce that patio season has officially returned to Downtown Belleville.
Patio season is one of Downtown Belleville’s most anticipated summer traditions, transforming the downtown core into a vibrant gathering place where visitors can connect, dine, shop and enjoy the best of the season.
With 12 City of Belleville patios located throughout the downtown core, there is no better place to enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine, a leisurely lunch or an evening meal with friends as the sun sets over the city.
This year, patio season will be even more exciting with the introduction of weekly patio activations organized by Discover Belleville and Downtown Belleville BIA. From live music performances to family-friendly entertainment, these activations will bring additional energy and experiences downtown throughout the summer.
“Patio season brings people together and creates a vibrant atmosphere that supports our local businesses and showcases everything that makes Downtown Belleville a great place to visit and explore,” says Danielle Hanoman, Executive Director of the Downtown Belleville BIA. “We encourage everyone to come downtown, support local businesses, and make the most of the patios and events happening throughout the summer.”
The season officially kicks off with a Patio Grand Opening Celebration on Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. on L’Auberge de France’s patio (304 Front St.), where community members, business owners and local leaders are invited to celebrate the return of patio season in Downtown Belleville.
“Patio season is more than a summer tradition – it’s an important driver of economic activity in our downtown,” says Elisha Maguire, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Belleville.
“These vibrant public spaces help attract residents and visitors, support local businesses and create the welcoming atmosphere that makes Downtown Belleville a destination. The addition of patio activations will further enhance the visitor experience, while contributing to the vitality of our local economy.”
The Downtown Belleville patio program continues to be recognized as a leading community building initiative. In 2026, the project received the City of Belleville Accessibility Excellence Award in the Built Environment category, recognizing the thoughtful design and accessibility features incorporated into the patios. The award highlights the City’s and Downtown Belleville BIA’s shared commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive public spaces that can be enjoyed by all.
In addition to the City of Belleville patios, visitors can also enjoy a variety of patios located on private properties throughout the downtown, offering even more opportunities to dine, gather and enjoy the season.
