UPDATE (2:15 P.M.)
Around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Belleville Police, Fire and Hastings Quinte Paramedics responded to the intersection of Bridge Street East and Herchimer Avenue for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
A 26-year-old Belleville man was transported to Belleville General Hospital and pronounced deceased by medical staff.
The intersection remains closed to traffic and there’s no word yet on a reopening.
The investigation remains ongoing.

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at a high-profile intersection in Belleville.
Sometime after 10 am, a vehicle hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Bridge Street East and Herchimer Avenue.
The intersection is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
There is no word yet on the medical condition of the pedestrian or when the intersection may reopen.
