A local track and field star has helped his school make history.

18-year-old Mount St Mary’s University freshman and Belleville native Aidan Crawford lead the Mountaineers to their first ever NCAA Division 1 men’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in school history this past weekend.

Crawford, a member of the Quinte Legion Lynx Track and Field Club, scored 10 of the teams 183.5 points and captured a bronze medal in javelin and was named the MVP Rookie of the meet by the MAAC Conference.

The former Eastside Secondary School standout also placed 5th in discus to round out the two-day meet at Morgan Track Stadium in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
