Hastings County will be set to receive additional funding for childcare.
County Council chose to amend a funding deal it has with the Ministry of Education to accept $1.48 million-plus, representative of up to 160 additional childcare spaces.
This is part of an update to the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care space allotments.
The extra spaces, along with 39 spaces reallocated after a project was cancelled, has resulted in an additional 199 childcare spaces planned to be available by the end of the year.
The Ministry of Education provides funding on an annual basis to Hastings County Children’s Services in their role as Consolidated Municipal Service Manager to deliver Child Care and Early Years services and programming.
