A partnership between the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation and Madoc and Marmora Tim Hortons has produced winning results.
Through the latest Smile Cookie Campaign, the two organizations have collectively raised $22,163.35 for Food for Learning programs across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Running from April 27th to May 3rd, the nationwide campaign saw Tim Hortons donate 100% of all Smile Cookie proceeds to local charities and community groups. For the Madoc and Marmora Tim Hortons, every dollar raised went directly toward supporting ALL Food for Learning programs, to fuel student nutrition programs.
“We are so thankful for this partnership and the amazing support from our community. The SMILE cookie campaign gives us the vital funding we need to keep Food for Learning programs going strong in schools throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties. When you buy a cookie, you’re directly putting a meal or snack into a local classroom. It’s incredibly heartwarming to see everyone come together to make sure students are well fed and ready to learn. With more than 7,100 students counting on this program every single school day, I want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who bought a cookie. You are making a real difference in their lives.”
“The energy in both our Madoc and Marmora restaurants during Smile Cookie week is absolutely unmatched,” says Katie Moore, owner. “Our staff and the wonderful volunteers pour their hearts into baking and decorating every single cookie because they know exactly where those funds are going. We are so grateful to our amazing community for their ongoing support, and we’re thrilled to partner with Food for Learning to make a meaningful difference for local students, one smile at a time.”
With the average cost of a student meal costing approximately $2, this incredible total translates into thousands of meals for local students. The HPELF extends their sincere gratitude to everyone who purchased a Smile Cookie, volunteered their time, or shared the campaign’s message. It took a community of many hearts, hands, and smiles to drive this campaign to such a tremendous success.
