A series of announcements are being made today that should help thousands of additional people locally access primary health care.
Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee was in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory this morning to announce that the Ontario government is investing more than $2.1M this year to connect up to 2,121 people to primary care in Tyendinaga and Bancroft.
Leading the way will be the Indigenous Interdisciplinary Primary Care Team in Tyendinaga.
Bresee says this additional capacity to provide culturally appropriate services will not only serve the Indigenous community, but also provide increased capacity for services across the region.
There was also an announcement made by Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp of $2.6 million for the Hastings Prince Edward Ontario Health team which will be used to connect just under 6,000 people to primary care in Hastings – Lennox and Addington.
This funding allows the local Ontario Health Team to expand its reach by adding more nurses and allied health professionals to existing community clinics and family health teams.

The move is part of $3.4-billion to ensure every Ontarian is connected to a primary care provider by 2029.
